Ranna's ongoing contemporary art work

Ranna is still working on her Snow = Happiness works. These are an offshoot of her Snoga art ex-stallation projects and resulting 2D artworks since 2010 (example above). "Ex"-stallation = Installations outdoors. (See also Bush Ex-stallation in Australia.)

She has also continued working on her Spirit Lines art series.

 

Ranna and contemporary art - (yes, the obligatory art-speak)

Ranna® is a contemporary artist who has been dedicated to her work since the 1970s.

Originally from Australia, since 1998 she has had dual bases in the U.S.A. and Australia. She divides her professional and private life almost equally between the two, producing studio-based art work and large scale ex-stallation projects (installations outdoors). Ranna's art work defies convenient categorization and pushes contemporary art into new territory technically, conceptually, and visually. Ignoring trendy art world fashions and expectations, her creativity has led to ethereal cutting edge contemporary art that embraces the brush, the world around her, and contemporary industrial materials, all signature to her "Shimmer Art™ " method. Ranna has lived and worked in NSW Australia, Townsville and Brisbane Australia, Virginia USA, and Tokyo Japan. She has exhibited in contemporary art galleries and museums in Australia, Japan, Europe, and the U.S.A. and "has produced a prodigious and significant body of work" *

 

 

In her own words: "I love art-making"

• When life lifts you up, make art. 
• When lifes slams you, make art. 
• When life is too full, make art. 
• When life is grindingly slow, make art. 
• When everyone is watching, stay removed in the studio and make art.
• When no-one else is watching, make art.
• Get everything else done but always find a way to make art. 
• I think all this is what makes me "an artist" - at any rate, that is why I call myself an artist.
• And... Yes, I can officially call myself "Dr Ranna-Lesley Lachlan" - that creative arts PhD thing I did says so; as if it matters much to making art.
